Now add the final header piece, K, to the top. This time, keep back edges flush with the pieces below. K will overhang 1" on either end.

Step 10

Do a dry fit of piece L, the insert, into the headboard. Trim if necessary to allow for fabric. Cover the headboard insert piece, L, with foam on just the face. Use spray adhesive to adhere the foam to the plywood. Then cover the plywood with your choice of fabric and staple to the back side. Then, with 1 1/4" screws, from the back, screw through the back plywood into the insert plywood, securing all four corners.

Finishing Instructions

Preparation Instructions:
Remove the insert, fill all holes with putty and sand and finish as desired. Secure the headboard to the Stratton bed using 1 1/4" scres and screwing through the backside of the legs into the bed. It is recommended that the headboard (like most headboards) be secured to the wall behind the headboard.

I am attempting to build this for my fiance. She wants the bed in white with a linen fabric. I am also going to add a little flair. Well see how it turns out

As we are moving into our first house, money is tight and I just want to say thanks for posting all of these plans and pictures.

I will post pictures of the completed project in the next few days.

For a King size, just take

For a King size, just take the width measurement of your bed and modify from there. Make the height whatever you want. You can do this!

Hey, I have a question ..

Hey, I have a question ..

I made the queen storage bed and would like to make this headboard.

Because my room is so small, the only spot for bed is centered with my window, leaving no way to secure it to a wall.

Do you have an alternate way of securing it? Would it be better if It made the bottom wider to allow more ways to secure it to the storage benches?
