I am desperate to be able to build this bed for my teenage daughter.  Her grandmother had promised her she would re-do her bedroom for her birthday, but came ill suddenly and passed away.  I want her to have the look she wants, but I cannot afford pbteen prices.  Any help with plans on this bed would be more than appreciated!  Thank you so much.

WOW, I love it! I had something similar in high school, by using low bookcases along one side of my bed to make a room divider (so I didn't have to look at my sister).

Looking at that piece to break it down, I see 3 dresser/cabinet pieces that are fastened to the platform of a basic platform bed (3/4 inch plywood on supports). It's really the reverse of the PB storage beds, with the storage above the base.

The platform is wider than the mattress, making room for the units to be placed on.

The adjacent "headboard" is the same height as the dressers.

And there is a very small amount of trim dressing the base and drawers/doors all up to tie it together.

If you aren't up to building the dressers, any of the cubbyhole units with cute baskets for storage would work. Or you could look for inexpensive dressers (Ikea?) that you can mount onto the platform.

Look at http://ana-white.com/2010/06/f.....ame.html  and imagine it with some of the small storage units along one side. Depending on the stain or paint and trim you could have anything from rustic to Ms. Princess.

Yes, I thought that too.  The last link that you included in your reply is saying "the page has been moved".  Can you tell me a keyword to search for it?

Thanks a bunch!

Try this:

http://ana-white.com/2010/06/f.....ame.html

The base platform is that, without the hole in the headboard.

And although I was looking at the plans and copied the URL directly from the browser ... the link is dead when I test it.

The page title is: Much More than a Chunky Leg Bed Frame  so "chunky leg" should find it for you.
