About This Project

First of all...I need to talk to my photographer sister (kaylajphoto.com) and learn how to take better photos! Our two girl's 3 and 5 share a room and I could not finish these beds fast enough!

They are higher because we have yet to build trundle or storage for underneath. I also made the little chair (just kind of winged it and modified as I went), and shelving that is by the footboard.

With a repurposed side table, new curtains, and a chandelier, I couldn't be happier with the end result! My next task is a cute vertical chalkboard piece above the table. :-)

$300+ for everything

Steel Bed Rail Fastener question

I'm working on two twin farmhouse beds and I bought the steel bed rail fasteners that you recommended! May I ask, what size and length of screws did you use to attach them to your side boards and 4 x 4's? I'm so worried I'll use a screws that are too small and have them rip out!
Thank you,
Michelle

Fastener Question

Hi Michelle!

Ahhh, so that is actually one of the few things I let my husband do. I asked him and he didn't remember. If you go to the website, I remember them having a diagram. As long as the screws are just shorter than the siderail you should be fine. And 2" or 2.5" screw on the 4x4 posts!

I hope that helps!

Bedding

I found this bedding at Fred Meyer on sale $30 each for the comforter, sham (not pictured, but same fabric as bed), and two decorative pillows. I LOVE it and so do the girl's! :-)

Cost of Custom Beds

Thank you so much Shauna!

I usually charge $400 for a twin, but doing two at the same time saves quite a bit of time, so I would discount them to $350 each. On my girl's beds, the finishing process was pretty extensive. Shaved edges, major distressing, two layers of glazing (which takes one week each). Would you be looking for something similar, or a different color or stain? I'd love to work with you!

You can contact me through rustichic@gmail.com.

Have a great day,

Anneke

Cost to Build

Looks Great! Can't wait to build one! Did it cost $300.00 to build both of them or just one?

I'm SO sorry!

I thought I had replied to this and am JUST now seeing that I didn't! It was about $300 for BOTH beds - but I had a lot of little extras to make it special for the girls. :-)
