About This Project

Loft bed with two big bookcases underneath. We already had a desk, so I repainted that to match. My husband built the bed and I did the painting. My daughter picked the colors herself to match her bedroom and bedding. She even helped with the painting!

We built/painted all pieces first, sides, rails, ladder bookcases, then screwed it together in the bedroom.

Fabulous!

First off, beautiful job! Love the color too - I'm a purple person. My biggest concern with this is making sure my niece (the other purple person in the family) doesn't see it - because if she does, I will be expected to build her one just like it! lol Thanks for sharing!

What did it cost to build this bed? Did you prime then paint wit a semi-gloss?

I don't know exactly what it cost us total, but it was roughly $300. We kept forgetting stuff and running back out to the store. Plus, we already had the desk. I did not prime first, which was a mistake. I did two coats of paint but you can still see through some spots.

Sarah, you can buy one at a furniture store but you're going to pay 600-1000 depending on the quality. You'll get a much better quality for cheaper if you build it from Ana's plans.
