About This Project

This is my daughters new bed. We modified the plans to fit what we wanted. I added drawers to the stairs. Then put shelves behind the stairs. Added doors so we can hide the shelves. We used rope lights inside to add light with her own light switch.

PS Don't mind the date on the pictures. Forgot to change the date.

Estimated Cost:
450.00 USD
Estimated Time Investment:
Week Long Project (20 Hours or More)
Required Skill Level:
Intermediate
Type of Wood:
Birch plywood, MDF, Pine
Finish Used:
We routed all edges to round them over and sanded. Then primed and painted. We used a hvlp paint sprayer.

Love the Stairs!

What did you use on the stairs?  A fuzzy rug?  A fuzzy blanket?  How did you secure it to the stairs?

Stairs

We found a blanket and cut it to fit. It is glued down and stapled underneath. It worked out good besides it is a little slick for her to be wearing here dress up shoes on but she is fine with taking them off.

Stairs

I made the stairs free standing from the rest of the bed and then attached the sides to it. Then cut the side out for the shelves.
Sorry I hope that helps some I didn't make plans for the stairs and doors on the side I just figured it out as I went. I need to start making notes how I do changes and at least draw the plans after I know it works.

closet

Beautiful bed!

Any special tips on creating the closet?

I am going to make this a full size bed, and am thinking I will make the top step extra deep giving me a larger space for the closet. Just wondering if you have any tips on what you did?

Thanks

Dawn

I want to make drawer stairs with an open shelf. Plans for your stairs would really help since I don't know what I am doing.
