Maybe I'm having a hard time because I don't know what the standards are....like how much clearance do you leave around it for the drawer slides, etc., but still make the face/front fit the opening??? My designs sound good in my head but look bad in SketchUp. Thoughts? Tips? thanks!

For the inexpensive white
For the inexpensive white drawer slides you need 1/2" clearance on each side.
I usually leave an 1/8" gap around the drawer face. Another suggestion would be to look at pieces in your home and see how they were constructed.
