My mom is remodeling her house and yard and told me that she had a few pallets for me to choose from. I went there and found that they all were very worn, wet and beat up; I couldnt even get the boards off the frame without them cracking into a million pieces. So she gave me some leftover cedar fencing that she had on hand. I was wondering; can I use it for the soda crate caddy or will it be toxic? I dont think its pressure treated.

Almost all woods are safe for contact with food (I'm not aware of any that aren't). The only thing you want to consider is making sure the surface of the wood can't retain food oils if food will be used directly on the wood. Close grained woods such as maple can be used unfinished, porous woods like oak want to be sealed more thoroughly.
