About This Project

Due to rain (and horrible ability) this project has been taking a LONG time it seems. =) We had one of those "cheap" playsets from one of the warehouse clubs that would scare me to death anytime my girls got to swinging on it. So... we knocked it down and I took some liberty with the details from Ana's playset plans.

Estimated Cost:
~$600 so far (concrete, wood, fasteners, shingles, etc..)
Required Skill Level:
Intermediate
Type of Wood:

Decking...

Hard to tell in the pix, but... I gave the Kreg Deck Jig a run on this thing. The results are great since there are no exposed screws. Two major downsides though:

1) TAKES FOREVER. =) Had to get the work lights out there as decking went into the wee hours.

2) the spacers in the kit are not pressure treated friendly. The gap in the boards is only going to get bigger as they dry so starting with a 1/4" gap is excessive. They say the jig can be used for options OTHER than trex and the like... but it seems that was the real purpose of this jig.

And in case anyone is wondering... the deck is supported by 6"x6"x8' posts that are mounted to concrete piers that are >4' in the ground.

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing, right?
