Our 3-year-old daughter Esmé and 5-year-old son Hugo are sharing a room right now, since bedroom #3 in the new house is serving as my studio until we get around to building a little studio outbuilding for me in the back yard. Luckily, they like sharing a room still at this age! However, they are growing up FAST and recently - suddenly - decided they had both outgrown the toddler beds they've been sleeping in and needed something bigger. We talked about all manner of configurations - bunkbed, l-shaped in the corner - but I am so enamored of the fantastic pictures on this site of the hanging beds, I talked my husband Xavier into tackling those for their room. They came out FANTASTIC. He totally rocks. And we were able to move the big reading chair into the space underneath the higher of the two beds, freeing up a lot of floor space in a quite small bedroom. We could not be happier! Thanks Ana : )

(Hugo's bed still has straps instead of ropes ...we'll be fixing that shortly! And the carpet is hideous, I know....it is just about to be stripped out, and we'll be painting the concrete floor grey to match the floors in the rest of the house.)

If you're interested in seeing all the other diy projects we've been doing around the new house, check out my blog here: http://www.cherylsorg.com/The_Metamorphosis_of_a_House_%28a_blog%29/The… . After we made the beds, we used their old Ikea 'kritter' toddler beds for another great diy daybed project for the playroom that we're pretty proud of!
