Behr Semi-Gloss Water Based Paint in Mermaid Treasure
Valspar Tintable Glazing Medium
150 Grit Sandpaper
Brushes and Rags
Brooke stained the top pieces, painted the main console part for a nice contrast.

Now comes the hard part ... This now is the most difficult step.
Let the paint dry. I know it's hard - but just let it dry completely. If you sand too early, the paint will come off in chunks - not giving you that time worn distressed feel.
Wow! Super-stunning! I can't wait to try this on a project!
Just the project instructions I was looking for! All the instructions are clear and easy to follow and because I have *ahem* perfectionist tendencies, I needed to have everything laid out for me so I couldn't possibly make a mistake. Thank you! (Maybe when I finish my dresser I'll even let you take a peek.)
Thanks for the plans, I happen to be working on a desk with similar color and distressing. I am curious, how does the glaze improve the finished look? I have found using a stain gets me the distressed look I want. Does the glaze improve the look in any way? Thanks!
Could I use an off white and a turquoise glaze? If so details please on mixing and best colors!
I live on Guam and have access to Home Depot. They don't carry Valspar products, and no one seems to know what a tintable glaze is. I was able to find Minwax stain in gunstock, so that's a start! Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I can use other than Valspar Tintable Glaze to achieve this distressed look? I really would love to try it! Thank you!
Martha Stewart Living 1-Gallon Flat Faux Finishing Glaze should be available at your Home Depot. This will work for what you need. Good luck!
Thank you! I will try that!

My stain and glaze mix won't mix... can I use just the stain? Do I need to dilute it with mineral oil? Will the water based poly work to finish, or will the oil based stain repel it? THANKS! PS I will post pics when I am done, as I used slightly different colors. Black cherry stain and a lighter teal
Hey,I will also follow these steps and try to do it. fixie wheelset
