4 - 1x2 @ 8 feet long
4 yards of webbing
4 yards 60” wide cotton canvas or duck fabric
Sewing Notions
Please read through the entire plan and all comments before beginning this project. It is also advisable to review the Getting Started Section. Take all necessary precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean level surface, free of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Check for square after each step. Always predrill holes before attaching with screws. Use glue with finish nails for a stronger hold. Wipe excess glue off bare wood for stained projects, as dried glue will not take stain. Be safe, have fun, and ask for help if you need it. Good luck!
If your fabric is wider than 60”, cut your poles to fit. To get the poles to fit right, you can loosen the top ribbons. You may also want to tie off the top poles just for fun.
You must attach the bottom pole to the bottom of the teepee! If you used the ribbon ties, take a small drill bit and drill a hole at the base of each pole. Tie the bottom ribbon through this hole to keep the poles attached to base of teepee. For loops you can also add a small hook at the base to keep the loop in place. Jaime sewed a small pocket in the base of her canvas to keep the pole bottoms in place. You must attach the pole bottoms to the canvas to keep the poles from slipping out of the canvas and collapsing the teepee.
Your measurements don't add up. Not a serious problem if you ignore the overall length measurement.
I made a Teep Pee for my girls following your directions and they love it. I'll post photo's on my blog with a link to your site when I get a chance so others can make play tee pee's for their kids.
