I'm new to this site and have a question. I bought Ana's book, and on this site I see lots of plans calling for 12 inch "Euro" slides for the drawers. Orange and Blue (here in richmond va) do NOT sell them. Can't even special order from Lowes. Is there an alternative I can use for these plans? I don't even know what makes a slide "Euro" and what that means :(
PS: LOVE THE BOOK ANA!!
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help!!
Did you ask at the HD, cause ours has them in a small cubby in the isle with the drawer pulls etc... Lowes does not carry them at all, even online. You want the bottom mount drawer slides, I have ordered them from Home Depot online when they didn't have the size I needed in the store and they came very quickly, I will see if I can post the link so you can see what they look like http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202638043/h_d2/ProductDisplay?ca...
Thank you so much!! I click the link and found the 12 inch slides!! Wooo whoo! I placed an order with Home Depot.
I'm a happy camper now. Last weekend I made the console table on page 40 in Ana's book and needed these to finish. It looks amazing, and the book is amazing too, so easy for a newbie to read and understand :)
Home Depot should stock the slides needed for the project. In my experience it greatly depends on the worker you are asking. Like the previous user mentioned the Prime Line bottom mount slides are what I use. They come in 16, 18, and 20 inch and should be in stock at any store.
You can easily check the store stock by entering your zip and finding the store that you visit.
Euro slides is something of a generic term, and lots of people in the retail stores might not recognize the name.
I've had the best luck with the slides from Accuride, and those are available almost everywhere. You can also order them from Rockler. If you're willing to spend more money, Blum also makes some really nice slides, but I think it's more money than you're likely to want to spend on hardware if you're just getting started.
