Hey everyone,
I'm planning to tackle my first project (a farmhouse table), and plan to use glue and pocket holes to join the planks that will make up the tabletop. Is it necesarry to use a planer on the edges of the boards before joining, or will it work ok to join the factory edges and simply sand down the joints the acheive a minimal amount of "groove?"
Does that make sense?
Thank you!
If you have store bought you should be ok to just sand before joining.
I would with reclaimed wood table tops on a daily basis...and sanding goes a long way!
Here are a few examples of joined wood I have recently done.
