Rustic "X" Sideboard Table Making the "X"

Hi! I am trying to finish making the Rustic "X" Sideboard Table and I am having the hardest time making the "X". I have a compound miter saw, but I can't get the 60 degree angle to come out properly. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I recently did a project that called for an x.

When I was at the point of making the X I laid the first X board hanging over the edges of where it would go. I then took a straight edge and traced the angle onto the board. I purposely made the cuts a bit long, so I could shave small amounts off to get the exact angles.
