General question about bed plans and dimensions

I notice that most of your plans for beds don't account for any extra in the measurements for bedding (sheets and blankets). For example a queen bed has the allowance between headboard and side slats at exactly 60 x 80 inches.

I have been going to bed stores and taking some measurements and they all seem to allow a bit of extra in those dimensions for the mattress.

I have limited space so it's all good. But has anyone had any issues with the interior dimensions being exactly the same size as the mattress, thus not accounting for any slight extra volume from the bedding materials?

I would just hate to build one and find out the mattress doesn't fit.
