How to cut a 4x4

I needed to shorten a few 4x4's for the Taylors Console table I am building. I looked on the internet for the best way to do this. Most sites said to mark the board all the way around, then cut one side at a time and then sand the end to even it up.

Well, this sounded kinda tricky to me so I followed Ana's advice and asked for help. My husband has been a teacher for 31 years. He started out as a shop teacher and now teaches AutoCAD drafting.

Anyway, I asked him how to cut the 4x4 thinking it would be a complicated process. He simply took the 4x4 out to the shop, placed it in the cut off saw (10 inch blade) and with one swipe of the blade cut that piece of wood right off!

Darn it! I could have done that myself! Oh well, that is how we learn I guess.
