It's finally happening!!!!

"It" of course is the HGTV pilot!

For those of you who are newer here, it's been my dream to take my love of simple woodworking and showcase it through TV.  To me, seeing makes believers.  And I believe everyone should know how to use a drill and a saw, that our sweetest girls, as well as our toughest boys, should be taught basic carpentry skills, and that you are never too old to cut a board and make something awesome.

It's been a true honor to have an opportunity to take this great passion of mine - my life's work, second only to my children - and pursue a television show on HGTV, set right here in my home of Alaska.

This has been in the works for a little while.  Remember last winter when we had a casting call, and then when the shoot got pushed back because this little guy was on his way?

And then he arrived, and the whole world stood still for at least a week or two.  I've never been so content to just be.

We were pretty lucky to be able to take a little bit of time off to treasure our new baby and our sweet daughter.

But at just seven weeks old, baby Hayes was on set,

and we filmed two pilot episodes for HGTV.

Man do I ever have respect for working moms.  It was tough.

But so so so fun!

You will never guess what we are doing here!

Or how proud I was of this room!!!!  You will never guess what this room was before we tackled it! There were DIY projects stacked on top of DIY projects for this room!  I can't wait to share ALL the plans with you!

Despite working through -30F temperatures, long days followed by long nights with a nursing newborn baby, it was definitely one of the best experiences (besides our family) of my life.

Saving Alaska crew

I'm so proud to invite you to watch the pilot episodes, premiering tomorrow at 1PM EST on HGTV -

We've done our very best and are proud of the results.  But whether this pilot turns into a TV show will greatly depend on ratings, so please, set your DVRs, and share with your friends and family!

Thank you so much for your support!

XO Ana + Family

Ana, I can't wait to see the show today. I will set my DVR to record the series in case I can't see them when they air.

Congrats on one of your dreams coming true ! You are awesome !

I love that you are getting your own show. Sadly I don't have DVR and it doesn't look like they have any plans to rerun it. :( I might have to go home for lunch today!

ooh, bad timing--you're going up against the World Cup game. Might not matter in this DVR world, but don't take it personal if that first show doesn't light up the ratings. I trust HGTV will air it again.

I am just seeing this post. Ugh. I hate that I missed it. I would have loved to watch the show. Will they be showing a repeat?

I'm a HGTV addict so I was so excited to see your show on. Congrats, I've been following your blog for a while so I'll definitely be watching. :-)

I just watched both episodes. Man that looked cold! :)
You did a great job and I absolutely adore the pallet wall you made.
Great job and here's to more shows.

Ana, your show is fabulous! I've already watched both episodes twice! You really did a wonderful job on everything. I can't wait to see all the plans for those awesome builds, and lots more episodes! Congratulations Ana and family! :)

Hi- it won't let me change my temporary password thar was sent to me. It says that I performed an illegal act and access denied. I am baffled and frustrated. If this could be remedied I would SO APPRECIATE IT:)

Hi, I am so sorry for the website trouble. We are looking into and you should receive an email shortly to help you with your account issues. Thanks for using the site and your patience. Ana

As of 5pm EST on Jun 25, I had not received this post. I did not see it until about 5 pm EST on Jun 26. I would watch anything you do so please give us more advance notice. I hope the pilot turns into a real show soon and that HGTV will show the pilot again. I only have internet but think there are many more projects going on I can't wait to see. Thanks for being there.

Hi Crafty1, I am so sorry it worked out this way. We received information less than a day before the show aired ourselves, and in my haste to get the information out as quickly as possible, I apologize that I mixed up the dates - the show aired on June 26.

I understand it will re-air on DIY in two weeks, but don't have firm dates yet to share.

I am truly sorry for any confusion. Thanks so much for the support.

I am like the other reader, I have already watched both episodes twice. And I love that it was followed but Nicole Curtis. Two amazing women in a row.

I really hope they show it again on HGTV at some point during a weekend! I was at work yesterday and don't have a DVR (and don't have DIY), but would love to watch it!

My husband was actually flipping through channels yesterday while it was on and almost put on HGTV to watch it, he was sad that he didn't watch it after I told him it was your show!
