After finishing my boys' new John Deere room and tractor bunk bed (also posted), I saw this plan and thought it would be the perfect thing for some extra toy storage.

Yes, I know, barns are supposed to be red. Everything else in the room is John Deere green and I had paint leftover, which is not cheap. So green it is! I used my new paint sprayer for the first time on this project and am thrilled with it. I would recommend it to anyone who dislikes painting as much as I do. I bought the Wagner Flexio 590 which comes with a detail sprayer as well as the full size and I'm very happy with both.

Sandbox with lid, painted first, then assembled. I had originally planned to alternate the colors on each board, but partially assembling it into the 5 large pieces and then painting made the process much more manageable.  

I had to go a little smaller on the base level because I didn't have enough clearance for the cabinets, so I went with 2x2 instead for the frame of the lower level.  My helper drilled pocket holes for me to keep the lines as neat as possible.  We went with a white color to match the shelving and cabinetry in the laundry room.  Overall, it fit great and now we don't have to stoop over to get the laundry!  Total materials cost less than half of what buying the OEM pedestals would have cost us, and we would have gotten less storage. Not bad for a first father/daughter project!

Building a storage shed was quite a jump for me but because of the confidence and experience I gained from Ana's  site I decided to give it a shot.  I acquired the plans online. It has 8 foot high walls and 3 feet of "attic space".  The shed is 8'x12'.  I used cement board lap siding.  It took about seven weeks to finish working a few hours here and there.  I really like it.  Even has a little window flower box.

This project took me about 2 weeks. Granted, it would have been quicker, but I could only work on it a few hours every couple days. I've never built a fence before, I think anyone could do it. Just take your time and that includes time to plan. I designed houses for a year about 10 years ago, so I actually drafted some plans to help me determine how much lumber I would need. This fence will welcome our new family member soon, my wife's 4 year old german shepherd. Also, this is a treated pine fence, instead of cedar. Thanks for the tips Anna.

It took a while to come together and made several modifications but it is a great coop and was a major selling point of the house when we were relocated.  I had added a main tray under the roosts and a door to srape the poop out.  This made keeping the coop clean very easy.  

So, we basically took the pans for the 2x4 outdoor sofa and extended it for one of the sofas because we wanted 4-across seating. We also finished up the look by adding vertical beams in the arms and a second 2x4 across the top (see photos). Because of the really long couch, I added extra bracing foot to make sure it won't sag.

Once complete, we determined the pillows across the back were a bit too tall, so we adjusted the plans by adding a couple beams and then lengthening it to attach to the back of the arms rather then between the arms. We pocket drilled the beams together and then braced it with 1x4 slats across the back. I also used a 1/4 router bit to soften all the edges. Anna we took your advice and pocket drilled all attachments except the seat slats for a real finished store-bought look. Cost of wood was under $100 because we went with pine. Pillows and seats from At Home put us at about $600 total for the project.

I have done quite a bit of wood working never being great at any of them . But I truly love furniture building.
