I built a couple of the barn door pantries before, but this time I had some wood from my brother's barn. I had purchased a metal grate at a flea market some years earlier, but could never decide what to do with it. With my husband's help, I integrated it into the door. It turned out to be a beautiful piece.
Thanks for the inspiration Ana! My daughter wanted a custom size hall tree and bench with a light switch cut out - basically your plans with an ebony stained poplar seat and bead board backing (to match her wainscoting). I had a little crown left from another project so I added a little detail to the top shelf.....And a Couple of lower level Hooks for the grandkids coats! She loved it and it was fun to make!! This was a really good starter project! I loved building this and have gotten tons of compliments on it! I spent about 5 hours on it, from when I came home with the wood, until the paint was drying. Including a coffee break! Estimated cost for wood + paint was 300 SEK which is about 47 dollars with todays currency. I have written down more info on how I did it and more images on my blog post. This is gorgeous! I love the white paint and how you used it at the bottom of the bed. I can't believe I didn't see this one sooner!
I used Ana's plans with modifications to hold 4 and a half dozen eggs. I love that it can sit on my counter and display those beautiful farm fresh eggs!
Plans for this coop were fantastic. It was a lot of work, but really fun to build. As hard as I tried to keep the cost down, it cost probably close to $300 in materials, but it is well worth it compared to the quality of similar priced premade coops. I did not want the garden bed, so I enclosed the run fully with hardware cloth. I also added a 2" lip around the cutout in the floor so they wouldn't push all of the bedding down the hole.

I just got your email and had to run over to check it out. Looks great!! That was a great idea to add the lip to the opening (am I weird for not using bedding in the coop? We just have the painted floor that we scoop out every day).

I made this using the $10 Cedar Tiered Flower Planter plans. Painted Red White and Blue with stars.
I was looking for a way to give our house some better curb appeal and decided our stree numbers could use a facelift. The majority of money spent on this project was for the numbers since I had enough spare cedar laying around.

So pretty! What are the measurements. Did you use real plants ?
I used the armless chair plan, and altered the one armed plans to make two chaises. Then I increased the size slightly to accommodate the 25x25 pillows I bought. This took about 12 hours with one person working. I am super proud of it! Finished today, and will eventually stain after the wood has dried out a little. Thank you, Ana, for making straightforward plans that gave me the confidence to do my first woodworking project!

This was the second building project I've ever completed. I had to make a few adjustments to make it fit the size of ray's closet, but it was totally worth it. most of the work was in the measuring, sanding, and sealing of the wood. Ftting the frames can be a little tricky if your planks aren't perfectly straight. Otherwise, this project was pretty straight forward and can be done in just a few days depending on how much time you have to dedicate to it. Thanks Ana!
These steps turned out great!!! My in-laws were using some busted up pallets as a front porch so I knocked these out in a few hours. The blue stain looks really good and matches the other blue on various out-buildings. Very easy project and the plans available were spot on. Thanks Ana!!
My Daughter has only been asking for a Doll House for like 3 years. This Christmas her uncle is giving her her very first American Girl Doll, so I figured it was about time to get on that doll house. I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Such a great plan and easy to follow. Thank you so much.
I adapted the simple Kitty Tree plan to make an outdoor sunroom for my cats. They are locked inside when I'm away, so this was a way for them to get some fresh air. They can access it via a tunnel, visible on the side as a grey box that butts up against the panel for the cat flap.
It's 36"X30" and 68" high.
The walls are made of plexiglas and I made the interior ramps by cutting up a set of wooden shelves.Plexiglas is expensive, but I salvaged some that was slightly scratched and going to the landfill. Otherwise, it would have cost me well over $100.
The frame was built using a Kreg jig, which is now my new favourite tool. I also added some casters so it can be rolled away from the wall for cleaning.
I found the Kitty Tree plan to be easy and versatile.

The plexiglas is not quite large enough to cover the space between the posts so there is a 1/8" inch gap around many of the edges.
Also the back is open. When it's away from the wall, I can lean in to clean it. So, it's not at all airtight.

One could use a wire mesh instead of plexiglas to save money. It would look okay, especially if painted, but I splurged on the plexiglas because it does look nicer than wire. I wanted to prevent complaints from our immediate neighbours if they thought a wire cage was an eyesore.

Your cats are going to love this. Once the birds (thinking about swallows) figure out they can swoop by quickly without harm, the birds are going to love it too. You could even put a bird feeder nearby to make it more interesting for the cats to look at.

Built this desk for my parents to fit in their office space. It is made to look like the Hendrix desk except smaller. I sandwiched together 2 pieces of plywood to make the desktop thick and sturdy.
Seeing this project posted somewhere is what brought me to ana-white and got me building. While mine is nowhere near as beautiful as the one posted, I'm really proud of this project and think it turned out great. It's all reclaimed lumber and I use 4x4's instead of the open leg design and I'm really happy with the way it came out.
So I was complaining to my wife that our one closet in our bedroom was becoming too cluttered. She asked me to build her one. I told her that if she found the one she wanted me to build, then I would build it. She found this one and so I built it for her. Let me just say that she is very happy with it and it came out very great. I did find a couple of shower curtain rods that were brown to used instead of the iron pipe. It made the whole project cost around $80.
