outdoor canopy with curtains

Farmhouse King Size Bed

Finally replaced our old queen size bed frame. It took me 2 weekends to finish the project. We bought a Nova Comfort memory foam.

Hand made vanity mirror/door

Initially I was simply going to replace the old medicine cabinet with a mirror but my husband insisted that he needed a medicine cabinet. So I built the cabinet. Then I built the mirror. I wanted the mirror to stand upright but the width of the hole left behind by the old cabinet was too wide. I then tried to have the right side of the cabinet remain open but then realized that the door would not open because of the height of the faucet. In the end I had no choice but to make the door horizontal.

Though it's not what I wanted and it is not centered like I would I liked it to be I think it still turned out fine. And the mirror looks fantastic! Better than the pics show.

Most of the wood used were scraps from other projects. Including the trim. The one thing I bought for the project was a mirror that turned out to be the wrong size. It was too large and I did not want to cut it so I used the mirror from the old medicine cabinet. It did have hole where the door handle was which I tried to fill. Now I just try not to look at it. lol

Minwax 1-qt. PolyShades Espresso Satin Stain and Polyurethane. I applied it with a sock like I did the vanity but then I did the last coat with a high density sponge (on a stick). A total of 3 or 4 coats. Lost count...

Bed with Storage for the Master Bedroom

I built the same bed as for my son for the master bedroom. A queen size bed with storage with paneled footboard and headboard. I love that style and I made board and batten too.
I am very happy and the bed is very sturdy. I didnt make drawers because it's too difficult for me. I am not ready to build drawers! Maybe next time!

I love this bed but I am wondering since there is no edge if you have any issue with your mattress sliding side to side?

My mattress does not slide because it is heavy and it is a little wider that the bed thus there is no edge which exceeds. I hope to have answered the question.

Outdoor Pergola with Seating Built-in!

Pergola outdoor room plans modified to make side seating instead of side tables. Left sides open. Added cute crochet swing bench. Anchored to concrete slab with iron plates and added decorative wood ties that match footing. I've gotten so many compliments and no one believes I made this!

Desk featuring "X" legs - farmhouse style

I built this table for my son to use as a "Lego building station" in his room. I made it narrower (18" deep) x 4' long to fit along three wall in his small room. I had some trouble chiseling out the piece for the "X" part to interlock and ended up just cutting the piece through like Anna does with her "$40 farmhouse coffee table", which worked well. I sanded and then stained using homemade vinegar and coffee stain and sealed with water based polyurethane in matte finish.

Outdoor Grill Station

This rolling bar was inspired by Ana White's plan.  It is used as a bar and conceals an electric smoker and a grill.  I added handles for moving and some hooks on the sides.  I stained the salvaged 2 X 6 's and brushed on clear oil based poly on the new Cedar fence boards.

Rough Sawn Spruce Dining Table!

This was really fun! Actually used Spruce from a tree on my property that I had cut down and taken to a Saw Mill 6 Years ago. Been in the barn drying. The rough sawn boards were only 1.25 thick after the planer I could only maintain 1.00”. Extended the length of the table to 10’. Decided to reverse the underneath support angled boards to add support to the center of the table due to the added length and only 1” thick boards. Used biscuit joints to add strength and alignment. We love it at the lake home!

Modified Ultimate Roll Away Workbench with Miter Saw Stand

I loved the idea of roll away cabinets that could double as more tabletops for larger projects but then be able to hide them and save space. I usually have 2 cars parked in the garage and space us at a premium. Instead of a mitersaw I placed my scrollsaw in the middle added peg board, lights, and a shelf. Thanks for the plans and the idea.

love Ana!  We moved from the city to a late 1800's Victorian farm house with no closets, no basement, no storage!  This was a great Woodshop 101 project for my husband and me, and gave us extra space in the kitchen. Can't wait to do another Ana project.

This was my first project.....my husband does woodworking projects all of the time but this one I picked out and he helped me. I really love how it turned out. We love the darker stain and can’t wait to do our second one!! We only had to purchase the wood for seat and back. We already had screws and 2x4’s.
