Box spring with Farmhouse Bed?

Submitted by loniwolfe on Wed, 01/12/2011 - 16:57

Hi, I was curious if anyone's used a boxspring with their Farmhouse bed?

I Want to make the queen, and I know if I do the slats like it shows I'll need a box spring to go underneath it, but in Ana's pictures it does not look like there's a box spring in there. I'm worried that if I do put one under the matress it would be to tall and not look good with the design.

(I know if I don't use it I can just cover the slats with plywood)

I'm just trying to figure out beforehand so I know what to expect.

Thanks!

I know a new boxspring plan was posted on Facebook recently (in December) about this, but I can't find it :(

It was drawn out on the technical drawing program in pink and turquoise.

I'll be checking back to see if anyone replies to your post, since I'm stalled on my twin farmhouse bed until I get this info.

I believe that's what you're looking for?

Actually, I'm planning on building a Cali-King Farmhouse bed. We have boxsprings, so I was planning on measuring how tall it was, making the slats as low as possible, and maybe lowering the side rails a little. Honestly, I want a tall bed even though I'm short, and I think it would look good. If the boxspring is too tall, I think I'll just make the footboard taller.
