outdoor garden/tool shed

My little outdoor storage closet is running out of room with my expanding tool collection, scrap wood collection along with garden tools fertilizers etc etc. I basically have to pull everything out just to get to the thing that I need. I'd love to build a little storage shed sort of like the one on Brookstone's site. Anyone else??

Me too! I have an old barn that collapsed. I would love to recycle the barn wood to construct a storage/potting shed and make it my sanctuary. I need a place I can work on my projects without removing my cars from the garage...

Would love some help I'm just not sure how to begin.

Here are some questions to help you get started.

What are the building codes in your area? I would recommend finding out how big you can build without a permit, as well as any setbacks or other legal requirements.
What sort of budget do you have to work with?
What size shed do you want? A small shed like the one from Brookstone? Or one you can actually walk inside?
How big of a footprint do you need or have the space for? 4'x8' 8'x8' 10'x10'?
What style of roof do you want? Flat roof, standard gable, barn style? Here's a website with examples:

Do you want windows?
Single or double doors?
How much barn wood do you have for siding?
And that's just to get started.

I live in a townhouse with a small backyard so I am looking to build a small shed like the brookstone one... I like how it sits up against the fence and doesn't take up a lot of space. Just something simple and functional. For garden tools and maybe bikes? Maybe 64 inches tall, 36 inches deep, twice as wide as Brookstone’s though (like 120 inches vs their 60). I would so love if my daughter’s hello kitty bike had a new home safe from thieves and the elements other than our living room.

I like this one on sunset’s site... but I don’t want to build it against our house as it’s sided with vinyl. Does that make sense?

I looked at the link you posted and didn't see a picture for a half gable roof. (hehehe) T1-11 siding would be ok when painted right? It’s more what I need rather than very pretty and expensive cedar shakes. The cheaper the better since I have lots of stuff I want to make this year:-)
