Hello from Florida

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I am an unemployed aerospace worker. I did maintenance on the support equipment used to process the solid rocket motors and the external tank for the space shuttle for 23 years. I lost my job when the program came to an end. So I had no job and still had a house to pay for. After looking around me and my wife chose to purchase another house that we could pay for cash (no mortgage) and so began the adventure. The house we bought needed a ton of work. The roof was shot, it had major water damage inside from the roof leaks. It was full of mold, carpet was gone, A/C didn't work, A/C ducts were leaking like crazy. I've been working on it for over a year. After having a new roof put on, I hired a contractor to replace part of the block wall. It had a window that wrapped around the corner that I didn't like. I gutted the kitchen (converted from a carport) to the bare block walls. Replaced door frame in kitchen. I dropped the entire ceiling in the kitchen, living room and utility room. Installed recessed lighting in kitchen and living room, installed all new electrical outlets in the kitchen, ran new 50 amp electric circuit for range, installed two new ceiling fans in the living room, patched concrete floor (huge hole, thank you level quick) tiled kitchen floor, repaired the A/C ducts, repaired the A/C system, installed new insulation in kitchen and living room as well as blown in insulation in craw space over hall, installed new drywall in kitchen ceiling and walls, new drywall in living room ceiling (it's walls were fine), painted 2/3rds of the inside (work in process) and am building new kitchen cabinets (momplex plans from this site).

What's left to complete, well the A/C is working for now but it's old. Will be replacing that when it dies (I have another I can install). I Still need to paint the bathroom and two bedrooms. Kitchen cabinets (in process), Kitchen island, appliances need to be installed, it will have a wall oven and an additional range/oven combo (yep, two ovens). I still need to do something with the floors in two bedrooms and half the living room. There is a good chance that I won't be able to do that before we move in. I need to replace a door in the living room.

I'm sure I forgot something but, that is the bulk of it. It's been a full time job working on this house. It has a huge shed in the back yard that I also had a new roof put on, I put a central A/C system in it (that has since failed) and I repaired part of the outside siding. I also replaced a huge double door in the shed. It still needs another one replaced, it needs about half the drywall inside it replaced and it needs some more siding repairs. But it's roof don't leak anymore :).

The shed repairs are on hold until after I move in.

Hoz dat LOL

Forgot to mention that the shed will have new drywall added to the ceiling so I can insulate it (blown in). Once that is done maybe I can just put a wall A/C in it and keep it cool when I'm working it.
