My garage needed an overhaul and I wanted to start a hobby in woodworking.
I found my way to Ana's website and found some of the best ideas and decided to try my attempt at building the Ultimate Roll Away Workbench with Miter Saw Stand.
This helped inspire me to augment my garage and build that workbench and new french cleat wall.

Great projects for any beginner. Make sure you're working on a level surface for the table. I purchased simple planter boxes from a local hardware store, and worked around those. For the bench, my only suggestion is to verify you are square at each step- other than that it's pretty straightforward.

Luv your site. Took your bench swing plan and modified it a bit (shortened depth) and then created a small pergola to hang it from. Just need to stain/poly to finish it off. Thanks for your plan and website it is very inspiring.

Our first DIY furniture project. We told friends it was an assignment from couples therapy. lol Don't look too close or you will see the many flaws, but I can say it has character and will serve its purpose.

We had problems with the doors. I think they are true and plum, but the cabinet, not so much. They hang a little cockeyed, but they do swing. The plans for the doors didn't quite match the cabinet, but we are newbies so we could have misread the plans.

The hinges and latch are from the blue store - painted matte black from a can from the original nasty brass. The red is Balero and the shelves are a coordinating tan from Sherwin Williams. A coat of Minwax Polycrylic for protection. We used square wire from the blue store for the doors. We didn't router the doors to inset the wire, a stapler worked fine.

It was an absolute great first project that Husband & I enjoyed tremendously. Mom has been looking for a jelly cabinet for 6 months without success. Old functional furniture pieces just aren't manufactured anymore. This cupboard fit the bill perfectly.

Slightly modified bottom shelves to be heavy duty. Used salvaged 60yr old mahogany paneling for shelves surface.

Liked the Griffen Reclaimed look Media console, but not the $1099 price tag that came with it!  LOL

So with $100 and 3 hours of work, BAM!

This was made from the simple daybed plan, took more time than expected but the end results are worth it. Build and paint first then assemble in the room it is heavy. Used non mortise bed rail hinges to detach easily.

This is my first ever build using Ana White's awesome plans! I stuck to the plan mostly, but used 4.5 lag screws and joist hangers like others had suggested. Oh, I also used a 2 inch board in the middle of the headboard and footboard, since my HD only carried 7.25" 2 X 8's. I had a couple of hiccups.....the headboard fell down in my garage and some boards got tweaked out of place, but I think I was able to sufficiently cover up the aftermath with wood filler and paint :D I really wanted to do this project by myself (sort of a "I am woman, hear me roar!" kind of thing, but it would've been a lot easier to have a helper.....just some advice :)

My very first project using the Compound Miter Saw. Easy Cuts. Easy assembly. Cost was about $1.50. I think I am going to make kits (as suggested in the sister plan) for a couple of birthdays coming up!

I wanted to make a large porch swing but just couldn't find the exact design. I wanted to be able to stretch out and take a nap but also be able to have a back to lean against. Most plans that I found were just basically a box you could put a mattress in and then hang. So I found Ana's plan for a basic daybed and chopped off the legs and raised the back just a little. It's perfect!! Thanks Ana. The plans were very simple to follow. This is my first project and I think it turned out great.
