Modern Outdoor Chair - High Back Adirondack

Modified with a high back and modern adirondack arms.

The base of the chair is built exactly to the plan except that the arms are done in a modern adirondack style.

The back was made independently to fit inside the base and then attached to the plan base.

Very comfortable but very heavy chair even without the modified back.

Not stained yet obviously.

Cushions are hard to find I think I would make it slightly smaller next time and maybe even find the cushions first and alter the plan to fit.

The kids do really like it but it has been so hot it hasn't gotten much use yet. I am hoping once the weather cools off they will be out there more. The one other addition that I haven't gotten around to is adding a pvc pipe on the inside so that the beach umbrella will stay in place better.

Perfect Lounge Chairs

This was a very straightforward and easy build. As soon as they were compled, I wanted a dining table and chairs to coordinate. These chairs were intended to be used without cushins (is there anything better than laying out on a warm lounge chair when stepping out of the pool?) so I recessed the hinge completely below the deck. They were cut adn assembled in two evenings after the little one went to sleep. As you can see, my daughter and her friend approve.

I ended up adding some additional support under the outsides of the corners. I glued and nailed a small block to the front and back and pocket screwed it to the inside boards for additional strength.

Storage Step Stool - First Build!

We moved my 3 year old son into his big boy room with a queen bed; it was a little tall for him so it was difficult for him to get in the bed so I set out to find a step stool. They were between $60-$80 and there was no way I was going to spend that kind of cash…..so that is how I found Ana’s site!
I built this with no problem and even got to know my jig saw a bit better.

Small Balcony Planter

Adjusted the original plans to meet AOAO requirements. Shortened the boxes to 20” and the length to stay below balcony railing. Love this herb garden on my very tiny balcony in Hawai’i ❤️

Ryobi Nation workshop and shelves

I bought a whole workshop full of Ryobi tools second hand from my brother over a year ago. I started researching workshop plans and came across Anna White’s Ryobi Nation Dream Workshop. I downloaded the plans and spent about 2-3 months working on it in my spare time. I made a lot of mistakes along the way but I’m pretty happy with it overall!

Bamboo & Tile Dog/Cat Bowl Platform

When I couldn't find the exact right size wood that I needed, I grabbed a piece of bamboo from my wood pile. When I ripped it in 2 pieces, there was this cool edge that resembled inlaid wood. I avoided staining it because it would have "muddied" the edge. I applied a transparent glaze on it, which kept the edge look intact. I had never worked with bamboo before -- I love it, as it required little sanding and took the finish beautifully.

Indoor Fancy Pet Kennel

End Tables

Built these two end tables from Ana's nightstand plans. Modified to add a shelf and drawers. I used stair treads to make the tops which give a nice thickness and strength. The shelves are cedar fence pickets. Shelf and tops are stained Jacobean with a semi gloss poly finish. Had to watch Ana's videos several times to get the build right, but spent much more time on the finish than the build. Added electric extension/usb outlet. Really happy with the project. THANKS Ana!

Project for my son. End tables with one and 2 drawers. Shelf and tops stained with poly, frames and drawer primed and painted. Tops made from Stair treads. they are 12" edge glued so just had to trim down and glue together. comes with one bullnose, rounded off the other sides with a 1/2inch roundover router bit.

Simple Daybed

This was made from the simple daybed plan, took more time than expected but the end results are worth it. Build and paint first then assemble in the room it is heavy. Used non mortise bed rail hinges to detach easily.

Firepit Swings

This was a real challenge as I did the whole project alone. 6x6 pressure treated lumber was used as posts and support beams. 120 lbs of quickcrete was used for each post and the support beams are bolted onto the posts. The swings were all made with pressure treated

lumber and I bought heavy duty mounting hardware for the chains. I bought the firepit kit at Lowe's and did the 4 block high enclosure. I had a lot of fun with this!

I love everything about this....the design, the different wood grain on the drawers, the color, the finish, and especially the hardware. Can I ask you to share where you got the hinges and how you got that finish? I hope you're able to post the plans because it's awesome.
