Cedar bench for my Mom (aka coffee table)

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 10/01/2019 - 17:46

Have loved watching Ana's youtube channel for a few years now and finally got the nerve to try and make some thing. I have always made doll furniture so I thought that I would try and make 1:1 scale furniture. I loved that video she did on the no-pour concrete paver outdoor coffee table and thought that the plans would make a wonderful bench. It took me a couple of weekends but I did it. Added some little accent pieces to the corners cause the bench did seem a bit wobbly. But it still turned out well and I love it. You get such a great high off of making and completing a furniture build. Gave it to my Mom for christmas. She loves it. Only one problem is that everyone who sees it says that it's a lovely coffee table. lol

My first wood working project after being inspired by Ana white

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 10/01/2019 - 22:53

I followed the plans pretty closely. I always wanted to get into woodworking and once I bought a house I finally had the space! My wife wanted a farm house table and rather than spend $500+ on one I told her I could build it. Luckily that turned out to be true!

Received the wood from grandfather who had it rough sawn in Henry’s valley PA. I cut it down and made a more rustic top to go along with the standard base from osbourne and local lumber shop. Added the final touch with in memory of grandfather after his recent passing, at the time.

I own a DIY workshop where I teach people to make signs. I always get compliments on my tables which I built from plans on Ana White. I wanted to teach a workshop on a simple first build project to show ladies how easy it is to learn to build your own furniture! This console table was perfect and each person who built one was so proud of the results!

Farmhouse Console

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Sun, 10/06/2019 - 05:49

My daughter wanted a console for her holiday Halloween village and Christmas village. I had to measure and modify the original plans as they were longer and shallower than what I needed. I also used tongue and groove boards for the sides. She also wanted mitered doors on the front because the barn door stood out too much. Phew! I wish I had a CAD program.

Ana White Inspired Farmhouse Table - "The Gathering Place"

This is my first made-from-scratch table, and I'm really proud of the result!

I made this table for my amazing in-laws. They just moved into a beautiful new home with a spacious, open dining area, and they've been looking for a large table that our growing family can gather around.

We customized Ana's design by making the table larger and by transforming the ends of the table into extendable 10" table leaves.

The final dimensions are:

Height: 2.5'

Width: 3.4'

Length (fully extended): 10'

It took two weeks to make, predominately evenings and weekends, and/or whenever my baby girl was asleep!

Estimated Cost
$300

Week Long Project (20 Hours or More)

I used an Espresso-colored stain with a water-based satin sealer. The water-based sealer provides a crystal-clear finish so that the Espresso color is untainted, and since the sealer is thin, the table retains the natural feel of the wood, (though the whole table was sanded so there aren't any splinters. Don't want it THAT natural!)

I let it air dry outside for 48+ hours to ensure the stain was completely dry before being sealed, and to detract from the stain smell.

New farmhouse bed

I needed to replace my bed quickly. I could not sleep in my old one anymore. Unfortunately I did not have the money to buy a new one so I turned to Ana white and a short time later I had a new bed and a fresh start. My kids and I love this bed. It’s hard to get them to sleep in their own beds now!

Farmhouse Bed

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Mon, 10/28/2019 - 22:44

This was my very first build. I had mostly only worked on redoing furniture. I was in need of a new bed. I had a hard time finding something I loved and was in my budget. I happened to come across these plans on pinterest. I fell in love. I went out and bought a small table saw. It was crazy that after buying a table saw, wood and the rest of the materials; it was still only around a third of the price of similar beds I liked. I ended up opting to put metal bins in the center instead of drawers.

The bed turned out so great, I an absolutely thrilled! PS, the nightstand I did by myself too. The plans are here on Ana White as well!!!

My first build - Changed it up a bit.

After going through tons and tons of different bed styles  settled on this one because i LOVED the way the original image looked, though when it came to picking out stains I decided to do mine a bit differently! I like the look of multiple stains, it certainly allows for you to play with different wood stains on other bedroom furniture as well. This bed WEIGHS A TON, so we agreed that we will never move it unless its to the burn pile but I highly doubt that will ever happen because its incredibly sturdy! Also - Thanks Ana White family, this build introduced me to my kregg jig and it is by far my very favorite tool now!

Reclaimed Hurricane Micheal X style Farmhouse design

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Sun, 10/27/2019 - 08:27

On this project which I use from Ana White designs, I learned how to cut at an angle and I learned what wood too use to get the look you want. I also just wanted to say thank you for showing us diyer how to feel confident about building and using our hands. It is a good therapy, woodworking and creating.
The wood is all made from reclaimed Hurricane Micheal timbers that I cleaned, sanded, detailed, sanded again, painted, stained, and clear coat.
Even though the wood was used and free, it still has a process upon completion

Estimated Cost
50 In total cost

Finish Used
I used Minawax English Chesnut Stain for the tops and a Valspar Latex Paint with a polycrylic semi gloss for easy cleaning. Sand paint I used 60, 100, 220, and 400 grit.
