Well, I can't thank you enough for all the positive comments and just in general day-making-kindness that you all sent my way when we posted the casting call a couple of weeks back. I am so thankful and excited to have an opportunity to work with you to bring our shared love of DIY to hopefullly television! It's even more awesome that the plan is for us (yes, as in maybe me and you us!) will be part of the show!
So I wanted to take a second to update you on the status of our HGTV pilot we are planning to film. Originally, the pilot was scheduled to film in mid November 2013.
But as you know, I'm in the last trimester of pregancy, and would have been 35-36 weeks pregnant during the filming.
Yes, as in one week away from being able to deliver a full term baby.
I had originally agreed to film regardless, because I know waiting until after the baby is born doesn't necessarily mean things are easier. Moms, you know what I'm talking about. Just because you aren't pregnant any longer, doesn't mean you aren't still carrying a baby. You still carry a newborn, only in a sling, and now the baby needs feeding, diapering, and constant nurturing, day and night.
And while preganancy has definitely slowed me down some, I've been as busy and productive as ever. It just might take me a little longer and I have to take breaks more often, but I still get things done!
But ultimately, the network decided to move the pilot shoot dates to February 2014, after the baby is born.
I know, I was bummed too!
But this is definitely the right decision. And I can't help but feel a sense of relief that I'll have a little time to focus on welcoming our new baby. I just might have time to work on that nursery afterall!
And a little extra time to spend with our daughter, while she's still our only baby and while we still can read an entire Junie B. Jones book the night before library day.
CASTING CALL STILL OPEN!
I am so sorry if you have applied to be on the pilot show, and the rescheduling has created any issues for you. But I also wanted to take a second to further extend the casting call - to those of you who maybe couldn't make November, but February is more doable - you can still apply (see below).
And even if you don't live in Fairbanks or Anchorage, it's our hope that we will be able to film more episodes throughout Alaska - so please apply anyway! I'd love to travel throughout the state.
And for those of you not in Alaska - I am truly sorry that with a child in school and a newborn on the way, we have choosen to limit our travel - at least while our children are young. Perhaps someday though!
