DIY Jewelry holder - free tutorial by ANA-WHITE.com

Looking for a simple and stylish jewelry holder?  This DIY wood jewelry holder is perfect for hanging earrings and necklaces, and has a tray underneath for rings and accessories.  Made from scraps, it's practically free and with our free tutorial (below) and a few tools, you can make it too.

This jewelry holder plan is part of a holiday series that Jaime Costiglio and I put on each year called Handbuilt Holidays - where we team up to deliver you a new, free gift plan every Friday in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

By building gifts, you can personalize each one, save big, and minimize shipping costs and packaging and transportation pollution.  We adore this jewelry holder, but if it's not for someone on your list this year, make sure you check out our entire catalog of Handbuilt Holiday gifts here.

Enjoy the free tutorial below - but make sure you check out Jaime Costiglio's build post for lots more photos, tips and tricks.

XO Ana

Instructions

Step 1

Build three of the uprights.  Jaime and I designed this way for added strength.  Start by attaching the 1x upright to one of the 1x3s with glue and 1-1/4" brad nails.  Then glue and clamp the second 1x3 to the upright, and angle nail from the 1x3 into the 1x1.  Let dry.

Step 2

Attach side 1x3s to the uprights to make the tray withglue and 1-1/4" nails.

Attach top 1x1 to the top of uprights with 1-1/4" nails and wood glue.

Step 3

Attach base plywood with even overhangs on all sides with 3/4" brad nails and wood glue.

Step 4

Attach "legs" with 1-1/4" brad nails and wood glue, with legs lined up with organizer tray sides (not plywood edges).
