Free simple step by step do it yourself furniture plan to build a laundry cart. Features two removable baskets. This laundry cart is made from a shelf and standard baskets. Also included, lots of laundry room ideas.

When my sisters were visiting last fall, and looked at my laundry room in dismay, little did I know their suggestion to create a laundry basket system that even I could work with would be such a hit beyond my laundry room.

I've loved looking at everyone's different takes and mods on the original Laundry Basket Dresser - everything from doors, to different uses to fun paint jobs.
So when Fresh Home Magazine asked if I was interested in a project fit for a laundry room, guess what I said?
This time, we wanted to create a storage system that was easily moveable, and could roll under a table, into bathrooms, or if you are me, into the dining room for a naptime folding session.
Because my laundry room is such a tight space with no natural light, we ended up photographing the laundry room in my office/studio, with some of my other fav pieces.  Shown here is the Vintage Step Stool, Simplest Stool, and Big Ur Farmhouse Table - sized down to fit the space.
We actually created two sets - this one with a giant feed tub as a bath!  Wouldn't that be fun!  And I was so glad to have my 5 shelf handy - I loved it hung this way!
And then just for fun, I tried my friend Donna's tutorial for making an antique sign and put together this Laundry Sign.  My sign is actually made of a board pulled from a pallet, spray painted black, then painted with a brush in Valspar Antique White Eggshell, two coats.  While the sign was drying I printed the letters in Times New Roman (just the outlines to save ink) and cut them out, traced on to the board, and then painted with black acrylic paint the letters.  After that dried, I simply took a power sander to the sign.
Such a fun project, and I've gotten so many compliments on the sign!  Keep meaning to update my laundry room and get it hung up, but really hoping to get a new washer and dryer before I start that project  :)
Well, won't keep you any longer!  If you want to make a Laundry Basket Cart, the tute is over at Fresh Home Magazines fabulous new site!
Or you can pick up the magazine and enjoy a great read!
Have a great day!

I was thinking, "wow, that is a great idea using the feed tub, that would solve my dog washing problems!" I'm sticking a pin in this idea for when I finally have my own home! Thanks Ana!

Who would have ever thought about putting so much time and effort into a laundry room? But it goes to show you what a few small pieces can do to make a boring room fun again. Now you'll be doing laundry in style!

I have loved the idea of using a galvanized feed tub ever since I saw it in a log home magazine some years ago. Now that we are home owners I hope to use it in our home.

I hope to do something similar once we finish our basement and put in a much needed second bathroom.

Thanks for all the great ideas!
