We used to have a wicker basket with lid that held our blankets in the living room. You had to take off the lamp and everything on the table top to open the lid to get a blanket out. This table is based on Ana's Narrow Cottage End Table plans, redesigned to fit our specific space and the materials I had on hand. I bought a basket to hold the blankets on the bottom shelf ($12), but all the wood is salvaged. There are at least six different species of wood at work here. Most are discarded stain samples.
I modified this by adding a drawer face that masks the frame of the drawer and gives it a nice clean look. I still need to attach a handle and stain this piece. The drawer is great for holding remotes and the basket slides out from the front or the side. I thought about putting the basket on drawer slides but ended up just adding felt pads to the bottom so it glides over the wood without scratching. Simple!
