Very easy project to make. From leaving the house to get the wood, get home, make cuts and assemble was about 4-5 hours. I have used this website as inspiration for other projects, but this was the first that I just followed the plans and it turned out great!. Very sturdy and perfect size. My daughter in the picture is almost 5 and this is perfect for her and will last years for our youngest daughter.

This is my biggest project to date. It's a great craft desk!

I used an oak project panel for the top, and pine for the rest. Finished with Rustoleum dark walnut, 2 coats of poly, and white paint.

Also, I'll probably revisit the hinge placement, adding another on each side.

Farmhouse Bed with Storage!

We LOVE our finished bed. We started out to make the Farmhouse Queen Bed but decided after completing the headboard and footboard that we wanted some storage with it. We made the frame from the Farmhouse Storage Bed plans without the actual drawers. We wanted a more open look to the storage. We are pleased with the way it turned out and love that Ana shares these wonderful plans online. Thanks again Ana!

Easy free Changing Station

I made a few changes but not much!  I used biscuit jointers and dowels, so only nails for glue to dry.  Lock miter draw joints.  But all the wood came from scraps from the saw mill I work at :).

Grandson's Loft Bed

Submitted by mmcuevas on Fri, 09/10/2021 - 10:20

So, my grandson's room is quite small and my daughter was asking for advice on how to arrange things. I found this plan and figured it would be perfect! It was quite easy to build, but did take longer than I thought. We had three of us working on it and we build it over Labor Day Weekend. It isn't perfect, but my daughter says it just adds character. He loved the bed and the extra space to play underneath. It really did the trick to open up the room. Thanks Ana for all the great plans! You are my idol!! Now, I just have to build one for all the grandkids!

Do you have more detail on the materials for the outside of the house?

Kentwood Nightstands

My wife and I have couldn't decide where to start our DIY projects, so we picked the Kentwood plans out of a stack and got to work.

Ours are fashioned out of two 1x 12 pine boards, (7/8 x 11 1/4) cut for size. There is a great mom and pop lumber yard about an hour from where we are, and has spectacular prices on just about every kind of wood...saves us about 67% off the box stores.

We had some cedar tongue and grove boards lying around, so I used the cedar for the side and door panels. We also opted to add a shelf to the interior, measuring 13' off the bottom deck.

We did not finish the interior, aside from sanding the shelves, and putting on a top coat.

The top of the nightstands are made with scrap tongue and grove pine wall panels my father-in-law had sitting in his wood shop.

Really fun, enjoyable first foray into the ana-white.com community. Gotta say, having a Kreg jig makes joinery a snap.

Estimated Cost
$50-$100. Mostly in hardware and finish materials.
Estimated Time Investment
Weekend Project (10-20 Hours)
Finish Used
Heavily sanded all pieces with 120, followed by 220. Covered with Rust-oleum Ultimate Kona, topped with Rust-oleum Satin finish. We brushed on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, then wiped it off with a cotton rag. Repeated the same process with the clear coat. Put second coat of stain varnish on table top then lightly passed #0000 steel wool over all surfaces to knock off any imperfections from the poly coat. For comparisons sake, the steel wool seems to make a softer finish than sand paper, and does not scratch the finish.

Outdoor pallet table with recessed planter box

Submitted by mugabeer on Mon, 05/06/2013 - 21:44

I bought a house and couldn't stomach buying something I could probably build myself. This is my first project and first furniture build. Besides buying the drill and screws the table was free. Didn't even buy a skill saw, just used a hand saw. The dimensions were dictated by the length of the pallet boards and width by the two end caps, so there were very few cuts to make.

Found plastic planter boxes for succulents (3 in picture) @ dollar store. I wanted to be able to switch out the center pieces and plan to rotate in herbs, ice, other flowers.

This project was totally made possible and inspired by others posting projects so I thought I should say thanks and post my own creation.

Estimated Cost
All wood came from pallets that were free. $8 for screws.
Estimated Time Investment
Weekend Project (10-20 Hours)
Finish Used
Steel Wool in Vinegar. Waited 24 hours for stain to start working. 3 coats over three days from the same mixture so stain got darker each day as the steel wool disolved..
