Instructions

Step 1

Since 1x12 boards can vary slightly in overall width, I recommend cutting the side pieces of the coffee table to fit.

To do this, lay out two 1x12 @ 47-1/2" on a flat surface.  Place your hinge in the gap, with only the pin visible on the top.

Then measure the width of the two 1x12s plus the gap for the hinges.

It should be about 22-1/2" - give or take 1/4".

Cut two 1x12s to match this measurement.  These will be your side pieces.

Step 2

Attach the two side pieces with screws (4 per joint) to the 1x12s @ 46" long.

Step 3

Attach the divider with screws to the center of the open area.

Step 4

Attach bottom 1x12s to the bottom, all outside edges are flush.  Use the 1x12s to square up the coffee table.  Screw to all available edges.

Step 5

Optional dividers can be added to the hidden storage area.

Step 6

On the top, attach one of the 1x12s to the top with screws to all available edges.

Step 7

Attach the remaining 1x12 to the top 1x12 with the hinge.  Orientate so when closed, any board cupping is facing downward.

NOTE: Before attaching any hardware, it's a good time to paint or stain.

Step 8

Attach caster wheels to bottom with caster wheel screws.
