Hello DIY Friends! Happy Monday!
I hope you had a wonderful Father's Day Weekend. We certainly did!
In all the years we've lived in Alaska, I can't remember being up in the mountains, wishing I'd brought a swimsuit!
Considering jumping in this Alaska mountain lake!
It has been crazy hot up here in Alaska (ok, anything over 80 in Alaska is considered crazy hot for us). Maybe the weather in Seattle will give us a break!
Yes, I'm headed to Seattle later this week to host the Home Depot Do-It-Herself Workshop to build my newest (and favoritest) Adiorndack chair!
All Home Depot stores across the country will be hosting the free DIH Workshop demonstrating building my Adirondack Chair on Thursday at 6PM. I hope you can make it!!! Friends, husbands, kids are all welcome!

And for those of you in Seattle, I will be at the Bitter Lake store, just north of Seattle - I'd love to meet you and have a chance to build with you!
We really wanted to make an entire collection of simple, easy to build, inexpensive Adirondack furniture, so I also put together plans for a footstool to match the Adirondack chair.
And yes, there's more!
Today, I'm sharing plans with you for a matching coffee table that is SO simple to build!

Shopping List:
• 3 - 1x4 @ 8 feet long
• 3 - 2x4 @ 8 feet long
• 2 1/2” exterior screws
• 2” exterior deck screws or galvanized finish nails (for nailing top down)
Tools:

Cut List
Cut List:
• 2 - 2x4 @ 44 1/2” (side aprons)*
• 3 - 2x4 @ 20 1/2” (end aprons)
• 4 - 2x4 @ 15 1/4” (legs)
• 6 - 1x4 @ 47 1/2” (tabletop) *
*NOTE: I took 1/2” off these measurements to conserve board use. Cut list is correct.
Cutting Instructions:
Cut out all boards from cut list. Cut half of the cut list from each 2x4 to get all cuts to fit on the 2x4s.
General Instructions
Please read through the entire plan and all comments before beginning this project. It is also advisable to review the Getting Started Section. Take all necessary precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean level surface, free of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Check for square after each step. Always predrill holes before attaching with screws. Use glue with finish nails for a stronger hold. Wipe excess glue off bare wood for stained projects, as dried glue will not take stain. Be safe, have fun, and ask for help if you need it. Good luck!
Step 1
Attach long aprons to shorter aprons by predrilling holes with the countersink bit and screwing 2 1/2” exterior screws into predrilled holes. Take a second to check for square by measuring diagonally from corner to corner and adjusting so diagonal measurements are the same.
I recommend adding an additional 2x4 support (20 1/2" long and in cut list) to the center - attaching exactly as you do the end aprons.
Step 2
Clamp legs to frame and predrill 4 holes (in pattern for a better looking product) to the apron.
Step 3
Drill two holes with countersink bit on each end of each board, 2 1/4” in. Attach through predrilled holes with deck screws and exterior wood glue.
Alternatively, you can use glue and galvanized finish nails
Finishing Instructions
Preparation Instructions:
Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth.
It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed.
