Dresser Cabinet with doors!

This is our version of a dresser cabinet. Thought we would share. We used mostly birch plywood and began by staining it but ended up painting it after the stain didn't work out.

Great job! I am in the process of building mine. Trying to figure out how to do my doors. I did a double set (6 baskets). Figuring hinges out is baffling! Lol

Sandbox with benches

I knew I needed a sandbox for my toddler, and saw the original on pinterest. I was so happy when I came here looking for designs and saw that someone had created a plan for this. I think I'm more excited about it than my little guy is.

The plan was easy to follow, and it went together quickly. Thank you very much for these plans

You rock Ana! Your plans are some of the best quick builds with lots of features. I built this sand box in two hours and my son is having the best time. This is a Texas winter replacement for the beach and the backyard pool.

So I just started making this box and it's truly an awesome design but I couldn't get 1x8 lumber instead I got 2x8... For the box base, will this make an difference in the mechanics of the seat and back opening..and the overall size of the box is 1.5" longer at 49" instead of the 47" the plans detail.. I was hoping that it won't but I think it might interfere with the 2x4 support the seat back..

I right in the middle of this project so I need to get on with it as it's nice tomorrow..

Adirondack Chair, Fountain and Bench

Ana, I want to say how inspirational you have been to me over some years. I think my first project found on your website was a chicken coop. More recently I have built the large garage workbench system with 2 rollout workbench/storage units (still in progress). In the past few weeks I have built the Adirondack chairs. The Adirondack chairs spurred me to continue building a “park like” setting in my small backyard. This includes a park bench (to match the Adirondack chairs), a park style grill, and a water fall. The waterfall is fairly simple (now that I have done it once - ha).

Office Corner Desk with Hutch!

Being my first DIY project - it was a pretty big task not using a saw before or doing any building. Following the plans was easy, just took a lot of time to learn how to do things for the first time.

I modified her plans to have 3 drawers on the one side to match the pb design.

After finishing the table, I knew I needed to create the hutch that is sold along with this desk. After some rough paperwork estimates I went ahead and built the hutch.

Looks pretty amazing and similar to the real deal.

With doing the hutch without real plans, this project took me a while to get those cuts organized and completed.

I will work on getting some hutch plans up.. I did it sort of on the fly from a rough estimate on paper.. I will post up on my website and a link here when I do.. might take a bit of time to get it up and learn how to draw it up all nicely on the computer. Not sure why the website won't load for you? http://www.webdevandasaw.com/ should work. Had a few people test it :S

The desk is pretty heavy and solid. I was able to bring each part up a flight of stairs myself (all three parts of the hutch are seperate) - and the desk top is seperate, as well as each drawer I took out before bringing it up the stairs.

The kids do really like it but it has been so hot it hasn't gotten much use yet. I am hoping once the weather cools off they will be out there more. The one other addition that I haven't gotten around to is adding a pvc pipe on the inside so that the beach umbrella will stay in place better.

Fairly simple, especially if you have a miter station. So many repeating cuts. I think I cut the entire couch in 20 minutes. I believe we’re in this for about $250; including screws, and cushions, and paint. Very inexpensive compared to purchasing. So, I routed the arms with a 45 and added a 2x2 rail to keep the cushions from moving out the back. I will be turning it into a sectional soon. Also painting it red... Stay tuned.

Tailgate Bench

I want to give a big THANK YOU!! to Ana. I found your website a few years ago when I wanted to move my toddler to a big girl bed. Since then I have built several things but this is the first that I have shared on the site. Long story short this is a bench that I made for my father in law for Father's Day. It was a pretty simple build that I believe came together pretty well. Next, a tailgate bench for my own dad for Father's Day. Luckily he doesn't mind that it will be late.

First Project

Well, I started with one chair and finished with a full set. Not bad for a first timer. Definitely room to improve. Little tip if you're going to make this amazing set... raise the backs as they are too low with thicker cushions. I built a casing to go on top after the fact. Pretty happy with how it all turned out. Thanks Ana for the plans... now onto the next project!

Planter bench

I built this bench for a Christmas present. She loves to work in her garden and I thought this would be the perfect touch. The plans were easy to follow. I made a few minor adjustments to fit the lumber I had on hand. The center bench is only 4 foot wide so I could conserve on the amount of 2x4 I had to buy. I thought the bench turned out great!

American Girl Dollhouse Masterpiece!

This dollhouse was super easy to make! Harper (the doll) wanted an open concept living/kitchen, and that is the first floor. Second floor are the bedroom and bathroom. Top floor is the closet. The roof is made from 3.5" slats of luan glued together and painted with black sanded paint. Notice the baseboards and crown molding? The window boxes are really cute, too! I still owe my granddaughter a garage and patio with pergola, and kitchen appliances and chairs, but that will wait until summer when she can help craft/build them. 

Harper's bed is modeled after the farmhouse bed plans available on this site, but I used smaller scrap lumber. I wanted milk paint but was unwilling to pay the high price, so I bought a sample jar of antique ivory paint and watered it down. It turned out great!

French County Wardrobe

This is probably one of my favorite pieces I have built.  Challenging but fun.  I built it as two separate sections, an upper and lower cabinet to make it easier to carry indoors.  I added a full-extension drawer below for storage. The two-toned paint combination did take a lot of extra time. Because I used an airless spraying to paint I had to tape and cover each section separately.

WOW it looks awesome the extra time spent on the painting was more than worth it looks spectacular. I bet you also could make a great profit selling this Wardrobe either on line or in a consignment shop, if I had the need for one and the money I would defiantly buy one!!

I guess you don't have plans for the wardrobe laying around - but would you mind doing a fast sketch (just a simple one on paper) with all the measurements noted? I would be thrilled to try building it myself in the summer.

I built this project totally from pallet wood and leftover 2x4's. I already had the paint and stain from other projects, so the only cost was for the baskets, which were $6 a piece at Ikea. This project turned out even better than I expected and I couldn't be happier.

Traditional Farmhouse Bed with Storage

Hello, fellow makers! 

I really enjoyed this build - it was a challenge for me, but in the end, I'm thrilled with the results!

I modified two of Ana's plans to come up with this storage bed and I share more pictures of the process and how I finished this project over on my blog Tinsel + Wheat.

I used the Twin Bed Farmhouse plans to create the headboard and footboard, which turned out beautifully, but because of the storage base needing to be installed flush with the edges of the 4x4 posts - this made the bed a little wide for a standard twin size mattress. I don't mind the extra 2.5" of base on each side of the mattress but if you decide you would rather have the mattress edges match right up to the bed you will need to subtract one of your center 1x6 panels from both the headboard and footboard. This will give you the perfect size headboard and footboard for this build.

So grateful to Ana for these plans!

Phenomenal Family Room Built-Ins

We had an awkward family room with a second front door which rendered the layout less functional than it could have been. My sister mused, "I wonder what would happen if you took out the second entry and added built ins?," and this project was born. With a 4 year old and a 2 year old and limited tools and workshop space, we were excited to find ShelfHelp, which allowed us to create custom built ins at a fraction of the cost and time they otherwise would have required (utilizing the "Frameless Built-Ins, All in One Method" plan) . Including the custom soapstone top that we had made from a local shop that was advertising remnants, the project came in under $1000, and we were thrilled with the results. SO MUCH TOY STORAGE, an unobtrusive TV, and a much more functional layout. Thank you, Ana White!

File Cabinet based on Eco Office File Base Plans

I got tired of wrestling with my old filing cabinet and decided to build one that would stand up to regular use. Based on the AW plan noted, I build this out of 3/4" plywood. The drawer faces are 1/2" birch plywood and the hardware is salvaged from old kitchen cabinets. Overall dimensions are slightly modified to fit my space. Painted the cabinet box flat black and because the birch faces have such an interesting swirl, I used clear poly for the drawers. Fun project that works well and looks great.
