Wall Bookholders

Just built these guys over the weekend and painted to match the blue open shelf dresser in my sons room. These look really good for taking no time to put together and using scraps. It's slightly different from the plan, but only because I didn't have enough scrap materials. I still like them though.

So here's a little side tip for those who just found this site like me and get all gung ho and knock something out every weekend. SLOW DOWN! I blame the farmhouse bed headboard. I carried it up 2 flights of stairs from basement. I felt fine then, but this weekend, after screwing these shelves to the wall, it all started downhill. Within an hour I was in bed and couldn't get up for 2 days. I am finally able to wobble around the house but man my lower back is not happy with me. DIY at a safe pace! I think I will have to get a sign for my garage to remind me. Not fun... tip 2 - don't carry the farmhouse bed headboard around the house on your own... 2 ppl minimum job.

With that, here's a link to the plans and some pics of the finished product.

Those look really nice, Jon!  Well-done!

And good advice on the pacing yourself part of things... yikes.

Love the shelves, but the dresser is stealing the show! And you are so right, nothing is fun when you wear yourself out! Enjoy building and be safe! Hope you feel better :)

they look great~ i love the blue color.

seriously, i have to start slow, because i tend to half-finish if i get in too much. it's like, start and finish one project, make it accessible so you don't get frustrated.

the gals and i are going to do one pallet into two crates each. that way, i can do the project in one day (save the drying of paint), and then it gives all of us a sense of accomplishment.

but with your specific experience, i'll make sure we do some yoga first to warm up. :)

shall i make a video? Yoga for beginner builders? (i teach yoga btw) LOL
