I doubled the length of the potting bench plan to allow storing 3 pails of birdseed and a pail of potting soil. I hinged the top in two pieces to access the pails. I used angle metal to make a frame for the folding top. I added a hasp with a swivel to lock the top down and a block of wood to press on the pail handle to keep the squirrels out. Before the block of wood was added, they had already figured out how to remove the lid the first night. I also added the hanging basket hook to hold some of the feeders while I fill them.
I originally intended to put the bench behind the shed in the back corner of the yard. My wife thought it turned out too well to hide and it is now next to our main entertaining area.
I really enjoy using the Ana White plans for my projects. - Alan Wyman
