I have purchased my supplies to build the Fire Station which I can't wait to start. However, I didn't think I would have time to work on the furniture since I doing other homemade things for Christmas gifts. Anyway, to your advantage I ordered a few "replacement" pieces. What does that mean for you? DIMENSIONS! And all you need are some scraps, wood glue, and some teeny tiny pieces of fabric.

General Instructions

Please read through the entire plan and all comments before beginning this project. It is also advisable to review the Getting Started Section. Take all necessary precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean level surface, free of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Check for square after each step. Always predrill holes before attaching with screws. Use glue with finish nails for a stronger hold. Wipe excess glue off bare wood for stained projects, as dried glue will not take stain. Be safe, have fun, and ask for help if you need it. Good luck!

Instructions

Step 1

Sorry I don't have pics for each step but since this isn't for a human being to sleep on I think it will be o.k. :)
First cut all your pieces as listed above.

Step 2

Assemble each bunk, see the picture above (4 5/8 pieces are yellow and 2 1/8 pieces are green. Glue together the green pieces and the yellow pieces forming a rectangle. Let the glue dry.

Step 3

Once the glue has dried glue the 2 1/8 X 4 5/8 pieces to each bed. Let the glue dry.

Step 4

Glue each bunk onto one of the end boards (5 X 3 1/4). The side rail of the bottom bunk will be 1/2 from the bottom of the end board to the bottom of the side rail. The top bunk will be 3 5/8in from the bottom of the end board to the bottom of the side rail. Let the glue dry for one side and then repeat with the other side.

Finishing Instructions
Preparation Instructions
Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth.

It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed.
