Why We Made Plans for this Extra Wide Farmhouse Table

We recieved alot of emails asking if I could make plans for Leave it to Joy's amazing triple pedestal farmhouse table, this beauty - 

This table was built by the amazing Joy from Leave it to Joy for just $200 CAD!!! 

She drew inspiration from this table that Ashley from Shanty2Chic and I teamed up on a while back.

 

But double the width!  I just love this larger size, it is so substantial and beautiful!

Preparation

  • 12 - 2x4 @ 8 feet long
  • 5 - 2x6 @ 8 feet long
  • 2 - 1x2 @ 8 feet long
  • 3 - Pine project panels 16" x 96" OR 1x wood for tabletop measuring at least 47-1/2" x 95-3/4"
  • 2-1/2" self tapping wood screws
  • 2" brad nails
  • 2-1/2" pocket hole screws
  • wood glue
Cut List

LEGS

  • 12 - 2x4 @ 22-1/2"
  • 12 - 2x4 @ 8-1/2"
  • 3 - 2x4 @ 47" - long point to long point, both ends cut at 22-1/2 degrees off square
  • 3 - 2x4 @ 42-3/4" - long point to long point, both ends cut at 22-1/2 degrees off square
  • 24 - 2x6 @ 3-1/4" - longest point measurement, one end cut at 22-1/2 degrees off square (other end is cut square)
  • 3 - 2x4 @ 44" - long point to long point, both ends cut at 22-1/2 degrees off square
  • 6 - 1x2 @ 3-1/2"

  • 2 - 2x6 @ 70"

 

TABLETOP

  • 2 - 2x6 @ 94-1/4"
  • 2 - 1x2 @ 47-1/4"
  • 3 - 2x4 @ 36-1/4"

Instructions

Step 1

Build six of the main leg pieces with glue and 2" brad nails. Keep all outside edges flush and make sure a 2x6 piece can fit in opening.

Step 2

Use the 2-1/2" screws to attach to the top and bottom the first layer of 2x4 outside boards. Do this for all three legs.

Step 3

Attach decorative cross support pieces with 2" nails and glue.

Step 4

Attach remaining bottom piece on legs with 2" nails and glue.

Step 5

Step 6

Mark beams and slide legs on to beams. Attach with 2" nails or screws.

Step 7

Build tabletop frame with pocket holes. Then attach the tabletop to the frame with 2" screws and glue.

Step 8

Attach base to the tabletop with 2-1/2" screws.

I think this is a really cool table! We are in the process of making the triple pedestal table but have opted for wrought iron decorative corner brackets instead of the triangles. I'm very excited about it and can't wait to eat at it!!
