Tape Measure
Speed Square
Pencil
Safety Glasses
Hearing Protection
Miter Saw
Brad Nailer
Power Sander

Instructions

Step 1

Lay the 3/4" plywood panel down on a flat, level surface.

Attach the first 1x2, all outside edges are flush, and the 1x2 is exactly parallel to the edge of the plywood.

Use 1-1/4" brad nails and wood glue, nailing every 6-8".

Step 2

Set the compound miter saw to 45 degrees.

Make cuts, place boards, and glue and nail down.

Step 3

Add additional boards.

Step 4

Add the final trim boards.

Step 5

Cut the 1x4s for the vertical sides first, and attach to the sides with 1-1/4" brad nails and glue.

Also nail into any ends of 1x2s that you can.

Then measure the top and cut a 1x4 for the top.  Nail to the plywood, any 1x2s that you can, and the ends of the 1x4s.

Step 6

If you need to attach the headboard to the wall, you can do that by screwing a 2x4 @ 92-5/8" to the wall, 48" above the floor, where you want the headboard placed.

Then screw the headboard along the top edge to the 2x4.
