Plans for the Grace’s Town Collection are put together so that you can pick your bases and hutch pieces separately to customize for your child’s preferences. Here is the base for the Library.

A) 2 – 1×12 @ 21 1/2″ (Sides)
B) 3 – 1×12 @ 22 1/2″ (Shelves)
C) 1 – 1×12 @ 24″ (Top)
D) 2 – 1×2 @ 22 1/4″ (Front Side Trim)
E) 1 – 1×3 @ 21″ (Bottom Footer)
F) 1 – 1×2 @ 21″ (Trim for the bottom of the Book Drop)
G) 1 – 1×3 @ 24″ (Bottom Trim for the back)
H) 1 – 1×4 @ 21″ (Book Drop Door)

Instructions

Step 1

Start by marking the sides as shown above. Then attach the sides to the shelves. Then attach the top to the sides. Use 2″ nails and glue.

Step 2

Then attach both of the front trim pieces, D, as shown above, using 2″ nails and glue. Nail into both the sides and the shelves and the top.

Step 3

Now add E, using 2″ nails and glue. Nail through the face of E into the bottom shelf, and nail through the sides of D into the end edges of E to secure.

Step 4

Add F, as shown above, using the measurement above to guide you. As in step 3, nail through the face of F into the shelf, and also through the side trim, D, into the end edge of F. Use 2″ nails and glue.

Step 5

Step 6

Attach the book drop door as shown above, with hinges on the bottom. Use a clasp to hold the book drop up when not in the open position.

Step 7

Decorate and finish as desired.
