Did you know that roping a house in doesn't mean we actually went out and lassoed a house and roped it in? Apparently, roping a house in means the you pulled wires through the wall. Huh.
Now that we've got the Momplex roped in, we've got to finish up one last drain system.
Do you see the short wall above? We just built these walls to hold the plumbing and electrical for the sinks. Because this is the Momplex, there's also another wall built in mirror on the other side of the main center wall (the wall with the black pipes in it). We have to put drains for the kitchen sink and dishwasher in these walls and connect those drains to the center wall drain lines.
For those of you following from the beginning, you know I had originally intended to not build a wall here, but to build a storage cabinet accessible from the dining area. After you read today's post, you'll fully agree with me that we need a utility wall here instead of storage.
Things start off easy - just drilling holes in the new shorter wall studs for the new drain pipes.
Of course, these holes are done to a specific angle so the drains flow down.
Not so bad, right?
Well, here's when things get interesting. We've got the main driain line in the center, and we somehow have to place a four way tee in there.
As in this part
Has to go in there.
You already knew that was not going to work.
Hmmmmmmm .....
I won't go into the details, but I can assure you that wall did eventually get put together almost like brand new.
And the four way tee did get placed in the right spot.
Good things walls can't talk.
But now things get really fun. We have to thread a drain pipe into the drilled holes, but the holes don't extend to the end of the wall.
And these drain pipes don't like to bend.
First we cut a pipe no longer than it needs to be.
And the fun begins.
There may or may not have been some of this going on.
There was definitely moments of doubt.
But I can assure you of this: If you go up to the Momplex right now, there's two kitchen sink drain stub outs.
That have been cleaned
And glued together
Just waiting for a sink cabinet.
Good thing walls can't talk.
Or file police reports.
