Easy DIY how to build a simple planked wood bed.  Free plans by ana-white.com

Hi guys!  Got new plans to share with you today!

I built a new bed for my daughter a while back.

She'd grown too tall to play in the space under her loft bed -

How did these cuties turn into clothes stealing pre-teens overnight???  Someone make it stop!

So we found a home for the loft bed with a younger child, and made this -

It's simple.  It's very sturdy (as you can probably guess, Mom or Dad usually ends up sleeping here halfway through the night).

And I think it is quite beautiful.

I like staining projects for kids because it tends to look newer longer than a painted project.

I used Rustoleum Early American Wood Stain for color, protected with a Varathane Rippled Effect Finish.

The rippled effect blew my mind!  Really added alot of texture to the finish.

Love a beautiful durable finish!

This diy planked wood bed is very easy to make, and cost me about $45 in lumber to make.

Enjoy the tutorial below!

XO Ana

PS - If you are wondering what this bed might look like painted, Pottery Barn Kids came out with the Emery Bed which is pretty similar in style
