This was my first project. I used my jigsaw to make all of the cuts because I hadn't worked up the courage to use my circular saw...so it is far from perfect, but it is very sturdy.
I modified mine a bit and used 2 1x8s in place of the 1x4 but still used a 1x4 for the lip.
