Arts and Crafts
My Projects
My To-Do List
I'm an Assistant Professor of English Literature at a small university in South Central Michigan. My eagerness to try and learn new things comes from my training in the Liberal Arts (Read Dorothy Sayers's essay "The Lost Tools of Learning" to see what I mean!). A medievalist by trade, I quickly fell in love with the Arts & Crafts movement after taking a graduate-level course on Late Victorian London wherein I wrote a seminar paper concerning the Pre-Raphaelites and their advocacy for the simplicity of medieval architecture and design. My wife has been a great encouragement to me as I dable in furniture making, and my children are my fairest and gentlest critics.
