Charging Station

Hi, brand new, first post.  I love this website.  I have designed a built two platform beds and repurposed a buffet into a media cabinet, but the thing that has gotten the most attention of all our DIY projects is the charging station.  (I'd post a pic, but my camera took a crap and I won't have a new one until Christmas.)

When we bought our house, we found a small chest of four hardwood drawers in the basement. I'm pretty sure it was a jewelry or hardware display case from an old store- there's some sort of logo on the back. It's about the size of a breadbox or a large toaster oven.  Four slender drawers encased in a little cabinet.  The top of the cabinet was, I think, glass at some point, because there was a lid on it that looked like a hinged, empty picture frame.  I pulled this off.  I used a keyhole saw and drilled a big hole in the back.  In the bottom drawer, I put a surge protector.  I poked holes in the drawer bottoms.  I plugged in all the chargers for our phones, iPods, handheld video game consoles, ereader, netbook, and laptop.  I threaded the device end of the chargers through the holes.  The laptop goes in the top, and the rest of the stuff fits neatly in the two remaining drawers.  The surge protector is plugged into an extension cord, which is then plugged into the wall.  If everything is charged, I can open the bottom drawer and turn the surge protector off to decrease phantom load.

Everyone who sees this thing wants one.  Most people have need for a charging station these days.  Not being as talented as Ana, and having a major headstart by stumbling across an item that is unique to my experience, I thought I would mention this and see if plans for an easy DIY charging station could be developed by someone with that knowledge.
