I need a better explanation on setting up the Kreg jig. I read the instruction pamphlet, but it doesn't make sense. What is the "thickness" of my project? Let's say I'm joining 2x4's at 90 degrees? How about two 1x6's side by side? Is the setting on the drill bit collar and the setting on the jig itself always the same? one time I set it up and the drill bit went all the way through (i.e. The thick part of the bit came out the side of the wood); the next time I set it up and the drill bit didn't come out the side of the wood at all. Does it matter what length screw I'm using when I set the settings? How do I pick the right screw length at all? Do I have to use the kreg screws?
maybe I'm overthinking this, but I'm just not hitting the holes right, so there must be something I'm missing. Thanks in advance for any help!
