I made this out of some scrap cedar siding lumber that was only 4" wide instead of the 5" wide board in the plans. I used wood glue before using a brad nailer, and because my lumber wasn't as thick I used 5/8" and 1" nails. I ripped my own front post pieces with a table saw and made them the same width on all 4 sides. It was tricky to gauge where to put the nail through the roof into the posts, and it was also tricky to get the correct angle for the roof. I blew through my wood several times. If I had to do it again, I'd clamp the pieces and let dry to avoid blow out. The cedar was finished with a beeswax/oil mixture to bring out its natural beauty. Tip: Sand the pieces up to 220 grit before assembling and give it a light sanding where needed after assembly and the glue has dried. This will make finishing so much easier and give you a more professional finish. - Chelsea at The Freckled Plum https://www.instagram.com/the.freckled.plum/
