I love love love anything to do with power tools and wood working. I am an army wife with 2 kids. My husband is gone for long periods of time and when he is home, my projects are the last thing he wants to do. Fortunately I have my mom and sister who also love these types of projects. In the last couple years we have built a new mantel over the existing one for a new much larger TV that we are unable to mount above the fireplace due to the extra cost. The new mantle sits above the old with space underneath to hide all the cords, and if we ever want to remove it, it is not fixed to the old mantle and can be easily removed. Last year while my husband was gone for 3 weeks, my mom and sister and I removed the carpeting in the living room, against my husbands wishes but the carpet was old, gross and very stained. We refinished the wood floors underneath, then tore out a entry way closet and built a bench with shelving and much more room and organization for the clutter. Needless to say my husband was thrilled when he came home and he loved the floors! My mom and sister and I always say, "we know just enough to get ourselves in trouble." but we always find our own way out, and fix any problems ourselves, learning a little more in the process each time we tackle something new!
