I am building a 30" square tryde coffee table. I would like to transfer the lift mechanism from my current awful fake wood BobsFurniture coffee table. Any hints on supporting this feature? I know I can not use the slat supports method, I will probably use fir 2x's and top the support area with finish plywood. My question would be for the 2x top. I will probably use the Kreg and screw the board sides together for the top to be able to accomidate the lifter underneath. Do you think that would be enough support? I dont want the 2x's to stress when using the lift feature. I do believe the lifter will screw in to several of the table top boards and add some support.
