Tomorrow I'm going to be buying the things I need to start my closet re-do! I'm only moving the hanging racks for now and adding a shelf on top of each...still plenty of time for Ana to add to the closet system so that I can do the other side! I'm going to have a 'walk-in' closet!!! (Maybe more of a 'squeeze-in' but still....). I'm so bad at taking before pictures (usually jump in if I get a moment free!) but I will surely do it on this one so I can share the difference. I still can't believe that my hubby hasn't tried to talk me out of it in lieu of getting the house clean first. I won't mention it if you don't!
Anyone else starting on their closet, yet?

I'm waiting, I have too many other projects I need to do right now. I think I'll be spending the winter looking at closet ideas online and figureing out what I want! I have a massive closet, but it's the cheap wire system and isn't very functional.

I've often thought that about the wire systems. I'm going to be posting my 'finished' project on the other board. I still have some shelves to build, but I think they are going to end up waiting. It's still MUCH better than it was!

As soon as I get a moments peace I plan on doing a shelving system for my 3 year old. Having 3 girls keeps you on the run.

Hi Erin! How is your closet project going? I've been working on my daughter's closet most of the week. With a gazillion places to drive to and from, I only get about an hour at a time to work on it. :) But it's almost done! Everything mounted to the wall and I'm starting wall repair and paint touch-up today so I can take photos and post them here! Yay!
What type of wood/product did you use? I chose the closet shelving with pre-drilled holes, but I'm so regretting that. It looks nice and I love the bright white color in a dark closet, but OMG... that stuff is sooooo hard to work with!
DrDraco - I looked for those cleats and decided to just reinforce each "box" with horizontal 1x4 instead. It takes up a bit of space in the back of each shelf, but I hardly notice it. I put one 1x4 at the top and bottom of each unit, which really "squared" everything up nicely.

Actually planning on heading to get wood for the other side's shelves today! I'm hoping to do a little variation on the parson's shelves (a little taller and wider) and eventually paint them white. I agree that the white shelving looks nice, but it is not forgiving like wood is! If all goes as planned, I will get my stuff out of the other closet and then my husband can use that one (it's short and angled and has diy [before we knew how to do this stuff] shelves). Then maybe we can get rid of the ugly brown put together wardrobe and have some space in our bedroom! Looking forward to seeing everyone's pictures!
